Against danger it pays to be prepared.

Lithe, mottle-skinned creatures with sharp fangs and claws, elongated heads and rather vicious temperament, Wildlings dwell in tribes outside the Aegis wall, in the Wildlands. Worshipping the dragoness Kalath'aria, they Green Tribe was in conflict with Fastheld for six hundred years before, quite suddenly, declaring peace against the nation once their dragoness was free. The other tribes, however, have not been quite so ambivalent.

The most immediate threat known to dwell beyond the Aegis remain the humanoid creatures known as the Wildlings. With their oblong skulls, exceptional agility, mottled green skin, and clawed fingers that are tainted by a lethal poison, these humanoids are a dangerous foe indeed.

In the past millennium, two major Wildling Wars have been fought between Fastheld's inhabitants and the Shadow-Touched creatures. The first war led to the construction of the Aegis and the establishment of House Kahar as the Imperial house of Fastheld. The second war was waged just a few decades ago, during the reign of Talus Kahar XIII.

Though the Wildlings of the "Green Tribe" no longer harbor any real interest with Fastheld, Wildlings from other tribes continue to probe at the Aegis, scaling the wall where they can and occasionally burrowing beneath it, when possible. The Imperial Watch, assigned to man the Aegis, protect against such incursions.

It is unknown how large the Wildling population remains beyond the Aegis, nor what the fate of the various tribes beyond the Aegis may be.

However, what is known is that while the Green Tribe are no longer hostile, their somewhat evolved cousins from the Black Tribe are VERY much interested in the people - and, quite frighteningly - the technology of those behind the great Aegis wall.
